rules
Standings, Point System and Tie Breaking Rules:
Total points acquired (Two (2) points for a win, one
(1) point for a tie.) In the event of a tie, head
to head will be used first. If still a tie,
preference shall be determined by dividing the total
number of goals for and against into the total
number of goals for, deciding the highest goal
average. If still tied, the team that scored first
in the head to head takes the higher position. If
all are still tied, a coin toss will decide who
takes the highest position.
Overtime rules:
At least one, maximum of 2, sudden death overtime
period of 5 minutes will be held in semi-final and
final games. A five player shootout may occur when

advisory
council rulings:
RULE CHANGES/ADAPTATIONS
10-16-05
New updates from the
advisory council meeting:

#1 Game
misconduct will go to Team Captain for allowing unrostered
players to play.
(This should not be an issue-if you are not on the
roster-you can't sign in, so you don't play.)
#2. I.D.
must be brought to the bench if a player arrives late.
Scorekeepers have rosters to check as well.
#3. Should
the game clock finish, and there is time left on the curfew
clock, the score clock will be set to match
the curfew clock for an "overtime" period
only if
the game is tied. Team who loses will receive 1
point for
the tie.
In effort to
ensure that games during the regular season are completed,
we have instructed our referees to institute the 5 second
puck drop rule.
Please be sure that your lines are
hustling to the face off circle for puck drop-they don’t
want to miss it!
The
beginning of the 3rd period will be a running clock period
matched to the time left on the curfew clock if there are
less than 10 minutes
on the curfew clock. (7 minutes left on
the curfew clock-7 minute period etc.) This will also mean
that minor penalties will now be 3 minute penalties,
since
the clock is running. If the score is tied or within 1 goal, the
last 2 minutes of the 3rd period will be stop time.
Should a player become injured during a Sunday Night men’s
league game and the game must be stopped until the player is
able to be moved safely
from the ice by emergency personnel,
if less than 1/2 of that game (15 minutes) has been
played-Lakeshore Sports Centre will
reschedule that game at
the end of the season.
BEVERAGES IN THE RINK:
IF YOU INSIST ON BRINGING
YOUR OWN DRINKS INTO THE RINK-GLASS IS NOT WELCOME! WE ARE
NOT SET UP TO HANDLE ANYTHING
OTHER THAN ALUMINUM CANS OR
PLASTIC BOTTLES.
IF GLASS COMES IN-IT MUST LEAVE WITH
YOU. BEER IN OPEN CONTAINERS IS NOT ALLOWED.
IF LAKESHORE
PERSONNEL SEE YOU WITH IT, AND IT IS NOT IN A CUP-YOU WILL
BE ASKED TO REMOVE IT.
THE RULES OF THE GAME-(SO EVERYONE HAS FUN!)-adult leagues
The following rules and regulations will be used for the
adult hockey league for Lakeshore Sports Centre. These
rules are intended to serve the
participants
in their
enjoyment of the games played.
The safety and
protection of the participants is the primary concern of
Lakeshore Sports Centre.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PLAYER:
1.
Read and know the rules, including USA Hockey rules and this
subsequent set of rules.
2.
Control yourself and your teammates at all times.
3.
ALCOHOL: If a player is suspected to be
intoxicated, he will be asked to leave the contest. If
the player does not cooperate with the
officials/ice centre
personnel, he or she will be suspended for one year
from that date of the incident.
NO REFUND WILL BE
GIVEN FOR THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
4.
All players must be 18 years old to eligible to play
ADULT league!
5.
Must be registered in that league, prior to start date.
6.
A player can only play on one team per league, once he or
she plays one game with that team, he or she must remain on
that team
for the remainder of the ice hockey season.
This rule exemption is now being addressed on January 11th,
2005. (In the interest of all parties involved, if the
season has begun and
a situation arises, it will be
addressed immediately,
not put off until the upcoming season.)
Exception to this rule will be in the case of
a player being removed for reasons beyond his/her control.
This does not include being asked to
leave due to nonpayment
of his player's fee to team captain, taking
excessive penalties, behaving in an aggressive manner
not in
compliance with one's team philosophy or arena rules, etc.
Each circumstance will be reviewed by league
officials. This is put in place to ensure that every
player has a place to play, regardless of
personality
conflicts, gender, race, religion, etc.
Should a player be asked to leave by the team
captain for circumstances beyond his/her control, he has now
become an independent agent.
Lakeshore Sports Centre will make an attempt to place him on another
team, starting with the last place team having first right
of refusal,
and moving on up within the
league until a place
has been secured.
Should no team be willing
to take on this player, he/she will be placed on the
Lakeshore Individual team, if one is in existence.
7.
Each team can register a maximum of 20 players including
goalie plus their subs. Subs must play a minimum of 5
games to be eligible for playoffs.
8.
Goalies may play for other teams as needed. During playoffs,
goalies for B division must be a B division rostered
goalie.
9.
Any team allowing non-registered players to play in a game
will result in the acting captain being suspended 1
game. Playing with an
illegal player will also result
in the game being forfeited.
10. If necessary, each player must show a valid photo
ID before each contest. At this time, the player
will be written on the sign in sheet.
11. After the fourth game of the season all rosters
will be frozen. No team will be allowed to add anyone
else on their roster, unless there is extenuating circumstances beyond your control.
12. Prior to each game players and jersey numbers must
be on the score sheet. If the player fails to do
so and scores a goal, the goal will
be nullified. The
scorekeeper will do their best to keep up with the number of
players. Ultimately, it is up to the players to make
sure they are
correctly written on the score sheet.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
1.
Each participant is personally responsible to wear
protective equipment for all games and warm-ups. Such
equipment should include shin and knee protection, elbow
pads,
helmet, gloves.
2.
All players are required to wear a HECC approved
helmet, facemask is not required, but highly recommended.
The staff's decision regarding the legality of the helmet is
final.
3.
It is highly recommended that all players wear a protective
mouth guard.
THE PLAYING RULES:

discretion of the referee:
-
A game
ejection or game misconduct penalty can be called.
-
A game
ejection penalty involves the suspension of the player
for the remainder of that game.
-
A game

balance of that game and the next game of that team.

regular season.

captain is the only player to ask the referee for a rule
interpretation.
15. Judgment calls and interpretations made by game
officials and league officials are final. Lakeshore
Sports Centre will personnel will
assist in enforcing these
calls.
