Here's the rules:
Sunday Night Stanley Keg League:
We are now a USA Hockey league.
Players need to register at www.usahockey.com.
Players
will register and pay USA Hockey and affiliate fees.
Players must print out receipt with
confirmation number on it and bring it to Lakeshore Sports
Centre. IMPORTANT:If you are
already registered as a player or a coach with another USA
Hockey league, for the 2007-2008 season,
you do not need to re-register. Just bring in a copy of
your current USA Hockey card.

Men's League
Rules adapted by Advisory Council
- Game misconduct will go to Team Captain for allowing
unrostered players to play. Game will also result in a
forfeit.
- USA Hockey card/and or ID must be brought to the bench
if a player arrives late. Scorekeepers will have rosters
to check as well.
- Should the game clock finish and there is time left on the
curfew clock, the score clock will be set
to match the curfew clock for an overtime period, only if the
game is tied. Team who loses will receive 1 point for the
tie.
- The beginning of the 3rd period will be a running clock
period matched to the time left on the curfew clock ONLY
if there are less than 10 minutes on the curfew clock. (7
minutes left on the curfew clock, 7 minute running time period.
this will also mean that minor penalties will now be 3 minute
penalties, since the clock is running. If the score is
tied, the last 2 minutes of the period will be
stop time .)
- Should a player become injured during a Sunday Night Men's
league game and the game must be stopped until the player is
able to be moved safely from the ice by emergency personnel,
Lakeshore Sports Centre will reschedule that game at the end of
the season ONLY if less that 1/2 of that game was played (15
minutes).
Responsibilities of the Players:
- Read and know the rules, including USA Hockey and this
subsequent set of rules.
- All players must be registered with USA Hockey prior to
first game, with the exception of players being considered
by advisory council for team placement. Said player
must register after acceptance.
- A player can only play in one tier on one team per
league. Once he or she has played one game with that
team in that team, he or she must remain on that team for
the remainder of the ice hockey season. This exception
will only be given to a player that has not been
accepted in a Tier, and is awaiting approval for the other
Tier.
- Exception to this rule will be in the case of a player
being removed for reason beyond his control. this does
not include being asked to leave due to nonpayment of his
payer's fee, taking excessive penalties, behaving in an
aggressive manner not in compliance with one's team
philosophy, ignoring arena rules, etc. Each
circumstance will be reviewed by league officials.
this is put in place to ensure that every player has a place
to play, regardless of personality conflicts, gender, race,
religion, etc. Should a player be asked to leave by
the team captain for circumstances beyond his/her control,
he has now become a free agent. Lakeshore sports
Centre will make an attempt to place him/her on another
team, starting with the last place team having first right
of refusal, and moving on up within the league until a place
has been secured. Should no team be
willing to take this player, he/she will be placed on the
Lakeshore Individual team, if one is in existence.
- Goaltender will also be the exception , and may
play on other teams. Goaltenders must stay in their
own Tier for playoffs.
- After the 4th game of the season, all rosters will be
frozen. No team will be allowed to add anyone else on
their roster, unless there are extenuating circumstances,
which will be reviewed the that particular Tier's advisory
council. All players must play a minimum of five games
to be eligible for play offs.
- If necessary, each player must show a valid photo ID
before each contest. At this time, the player will be
written on the sign in sheet.
- Prior to each game, players and jersey numbers must be
on the score sheet. If the player fails to do so and
scores a goal, the goal will be nullified. The
scorekeepers will do their best to keep up with the number
of players. Ultimately, it is up to the players to
make sure they are correctly written on the score sheet, and
a bench minor will result.
- Rules adapted to 2006-2007 USA Hockey rules for
obstruction rules will be followed.
- Control yourself and your teammates at all times.
- ALCOHOL: If a player is suspected to be
intoxicated, he will be asked to leave the contest. If
the player does not cooperate with the officials/ice centre
personnel, he or she will be suspended for one year from
that date of the incident.
- NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
- All players must be 18 years old to be eligible to play
ADULT league.
- After the 4th game of the season, all rosters will be
frozen.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Each participant is personally responsible to wear
protective equipment for all games and warm-ups. Such
equipment should include shin and knee protection, elbow
pads, helmet and gloves.
- All players are required to wear a HECC approved helmet,
facemask is not required, but highly recommended. the
staff's decision regarding he legality of the helmet is
final.
- It is highly recommended that all players wear a
protective mouth guard.
THE PLAYING RULES:
- At the discretion of the referee:
- A game ejection or game misconduct penalty can be
called.
- a Game Ejection penalty involves the suspension of the
player for the remainder of that game.
- A game misconduct involves the suspension of the player
for the balance of that game and the next game of that team.
- The scorekeeper shall serve as an off ice official and
may assist in making calls.
- All players must abide by USA Hockey rules and these
Lakeshore rules.
- Any player involved in a fight the last game of the
season will not be eligible to play the following season.
- Each game will consist of three periods of 10 minutes
each, stop time. a one minute interval between periods.
All games will be curfewed. icing will be blue line
icing.
- Verbal and/or physical abuse to opponents/officials/ice
centre personnel WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Any
player receiving Games ejections the last game of the season
will have his eligibility reviewed prior to the start of the
following season. If a
player is ejected from a game they must leave the premises
if told to do so by the official or arena personnel.
If there is any such further suspensions, disciplinary
action will be assessed. Lakeshore Management reserves
the right to hand out any disciplinary actions or
suspensions they feel fits the conduct of that player or
team.
MINOR PENALTIES:
- A player called for a minor penalty will serve 2 minutes
in the box, (Unless it has gone to running clock third
period- please refer to rule above). If a goal is
scored they will be allowed out of the box.
- Checking is not permitted. A two minute penalty
will be served.
- Slap shots are not allowed. Shots are no more
waist high.
- Suspensions for major penalties assessed: (including
fighting)
1st offense: ejection from that game and
automatic 2 game suspension.
2nd offense: ejection from that game and automatic six game
suspension.
3rd offense: ejection from that game and automatic
suspension from that league for it's entirety and with that, a
one year suspension from that date. NO REFUNDS GIVEN
FOR THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
SUSPENSIONS FOR INTENT TO INJURE OR MATCH PENALTY: a
player incurring a match penalty shall be suspended from
participating in any USA Hockey games and practices until his
case has been dealt with by the proper authorities. A
mandatory hearing by the proper authorities shall be held and a
decision made relative to any further disciplinary action within
30 days of the incident. If extenuating circumstances
prevent the proper authorities from conducting the mandatory
hearing, the player shall be automatically reinstated after 30
days.
Should a second offence occur, player will be suspended from
the league for an indefinite period of time.
NO REFUNDS GIVEN IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
Players serving 1 year suspensions are not allowed to
participate in recreational hockey until their suspension
expires.
Teams allowing individuals serving suspensions to play will
forfeit that game, and game suspension will be given to team
captain.
If a player is called for three 2 minute penalties in one
game, the consequences are as follow:
1st offense: ejection from that game.
2nd offense: 2 game suspension.
3rd offense: 6 game suspension.
All ties will remain as such during the regular season. All
teams will designate a captain. The captain is the only
person to ask the referee for a rule interpretation.
Judgment calls and interpretations made by game officials and
league officials are final. Lakeshore Sports Centre
personnel will assist in enforcing these calls.
