Men's League Rules adapted by Advisory Council

  1.  Game misconduct will go to Team Captain for allowing unrostered players to play.  Game will also result in a forfeit.
  2.  USA Hockey card/and or ID must be brought to the bench if a player arrives late.  Scorekeepers will have rosters to check as well.
  3. Should the game clock finish and there is time left on the curfew clock, the score clock will be set               to match the curfew clock for an overtime period, only if the game is tied.  Team who loses will receive 1 point for the tie.
  4. The beginning of the 3rd period will be a running clock period matched to the time left on the curfew clock ONLY if there are less than 10 minutes on the curfew clock.  (7 minutes left on the curfew clock, 7 minute running time period.  this will also mean that minor penalties will now be 3 minute penalties, since the clock is running.  If the score is tied, the last 2 minutes of the period will be stop time .)
  5. Should a player become injured during a Sunday Night Men's league game and the game must be stopped until the player is able to be moved safely from the ice by emergency personnel, Lakeshore Sports Centre will reschedule that game at the end of the season ONLY if less that 1/2 of that game was played (15 minutes).

Responsibilities of the Players:

  • Read and know the rules, including USA Hockey and this subsequent set of rules.
  • All players must be registered with USA Hockey prior to first game, with the exception of players being considered by advisory council for team placement.  Said player must register after acceptance.
  • A player can only play in one tier on one team per league.  Once he or she has played one game with that team in that team, he or she must remain on that team for the remainder of the ice hockey season.  This exception will  only be given to a player that has not been accepted in a Tier, and is awaiting approval for the other Tier.
  • Exception to this rule will be in the case of a player being removed for reason beyond his control.  this does not include being asked to leave due to nonpayment of his payer's fee, taking excessive penalties, behaving in an aggressive manner not in compliance with one's team philosophy, ignoring arena rules, etc.  Each circumstance will  be reviewed by league officials.  this is put in place to ensure that every player has a place to play, regardless of personality conflicts, gender, race, religion, etc.  Should a player be asked to leave by the team captain for circumstances beyond his/her control, he has now become a free agent.  Lakeshore sports Centre will make an attempt to place him/her on another team, starting with the last place team having first right of refusal, and moving on up within the league until a place has been secured.    Should no team be willing to take this player, he/she will be placed on the Lakeshore Individual team, if one is in existence.
  •  Goaltender will also be the exception , and may play on other teams.  Goaltenders must stay in their own Tier for playoffs.
  • After the 4th game of the season, all rosters will be frozen.  No team will be allowed to add anyone else on their roster, unless there are extenuating circumstances, which will be reviewed the that particular Tier's advisory council.  All players must play a minimum of five games to be eligible for play offs.
  • If necessary, each player must show a valid photo ID before each contest.  At this time, the player will be written on the sign in sheet.
  • Prior to each game, players and jersey numbers must be on the score sheet.  If the player fails to do so and scores a goal, the goal will be nullified.  The scorekeepers will do their best to keep up with the number of players.  Ultimately, it is up to the players to make sure they are correctly written on the score sheet, and a bench minor will result.
  • Rules adapted to 2006-2007 USA Hockey rules for obstruction rules will be followed.
  • Control yourself and your teammates at all times.
  • ALCOHOL:  If a player is suspected to be intoxicated, he will be asked to leave the contest.  If the player does not cooperate with the officials/ice centre personnel, he or she will be suspended for one year from that date of the incident.
